SIMPLE MACHINES – Credo
Resorting back to simple machines. You have your wedge. You have your inclined plane. What have you. You have a rotating series of scenes that call for knots. Thinking simply about the sailor knot, the West Palm Whistlin’ Knot, and last but not least, the old apatternous. Breaking situations down into three things: aspects, components, possibilities. Making building possible by polishing the language-at-hand. Theorizing along six related vectors: the prime, the tall, the animated, the vegetal, the sinister, and that which operates irrespective of the sooty-pappy. Rubbing until there’s a glow. Sinking into the substance of the whole thing. Teeth, that is. “Simple Machines”, that is.
TEACH AN OLD BEAMER A LESSON
Visiting a cemetery with an elderly parent. Doing this every time the parent misbehaves, in order to put such mischief in perspective. Even if not explicitly punitive, such as when they don’t show enough appreciation for gestures, such as treats prepared special.
When the elderly parent goes too far too often (as it were, “for the last time”), call put in to the cemetery in advance of trip. Walking along, drop off and let elderly parent get ahead at strategic moment. Begin sobbing. Push pleading imploring parent into fresh grave, with sins being read off by third party. Hush and peace are created.
This is how it is done now.
RUDE FRUITS
Nervous because following up spectacular act, cub scouts dressed as fruits, singing nutritious song with endearing “baby” in lyrics. Not this lot’s first choir, but stand to be taught a lesson or two in manners. But no unilateral understanding of village raising child, no conception of community to ease guardian’s sense of child as their property to be molded into their image. Don’t appreciate being tripped.

Little Free Library in the shape of a birdhouse, birds use the books to build nests. Very environmental and friendly.
BRICK CALENDAR
Gift idea: a brick wall that is a tear-away calendar, like the ones with inspirational messages. Maybe each brick has an inspirational message. Each day, a brick is chipped off from the wall and thrown out the window. Works best in two or three stories high, but not to exceed ten.
MIRROR STAGE
In a room, one speaking one looking in a mirror, maybe dressing.
“Fur thicker and longer, enables living in cold temperatures”

EVIDENCE
Among the evidence was a Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring extended edition disc 2 in the laptop. It is unclear how long it has been there or how many times played.
LATE 90s/EARLY 00s SCENE
Turn off son’s television as punitive measure, gesture to stop gaming when dinner is ready. Understanding that turning off television does not erase progress, measure son’s reaction. If he acts like an ass, knowing he’s an ass; if feigned disappointment, discerning whether he’s empathetic or a sociopath.
PARENTHOOD
Baby-harnessing stuffed chimpanzee doll on chest, walking around in public. When catching a suspicious look, reassuring “just want to try it out first, see what it’s like, haha.” On third such encounter, passenger in by-passing car tears arm off chimp doll. Thread of chimp departs with car. Chimp deconstructs out of harness. Optimism thrown into flux.
LESSON FROM PROJECT NIM
Orangutans as ranchers (work well with other animals, good at horse riding). Macaques as forager-chefs, Marmosets fired from non-violent canons carrying written messages. Baboons are falconers and instruct falcons against enemies of state. Spider monkeys landscape. Golden monkeys read to poor people.
KYRIE ON EARTH
Between free throws, in the space where players often *tap hands* in support, Kyrie Irving was seen reassuring his sideline or something. After commercial break, the audio was retrieved, and revealed Kyrie’s assurance to his coach and teammates that the earth is flat. Interesting use of the banal space normally devoid of everything but concentration.
